We are hiring a full-time temporary Senior Advisor, Operational Excellence position (for up to 18 months) in Edmonton, AB.
In this role, you apply your expertise in strategy, process, technology and data to improve performance across Electricity Operations. You analyze data, identify opportunities, and implement solutions that strengthen competitiveness, reduce costs, drive efficiency and support high customer satisfaction.
We’re looking for a highly collaborative individual to work with teams across IT, Operations, Project Management, Finance, Business Development, Estimating and Engineering/Design. Using strong leadership and critical thinking, you challenge the status quo, guide best practices, and support effective project delivery.
This position may be eligible for EPCOR’s hybrid work program.
What you’d be responsible for
- Delivering specialized consultative, training and mentorship expertise to Operations Managers in the areas of change management, process improvement, re-engineering, process mapping, business analysis and implementation planning.
- Understanding business processes, systems and data to design effective, customer‑focused solutions.
- Working with business analysts and IT to translate business goals into system requirements.
- Developing and refining processes to improve efficiency and ensure compliance with standards and customer expectations.
- Preparing clear documentation on scope, roles, budget and records management.
- Leading and facilitating process redesign and improvement projects. Designing new processes, policies, procedures, work practices, tools and system requirements that require IT integration necessary to achieve performance improvement.
- Identifying issues and downstream impacts that must be resolved before implementation.
- Conducting research, analysis and performance measurement to support improvement projects and ensure strong adoption and outcomes.
- Supporting Process Owners in creating and executing change management plans.
- Ensuring processes are consistently documented, integrated and cross‑functional.
- Prototyping small applications, reports, and related solutions to meet business requirements using Power Platform tools, including Power BI, PowerApps, and Power Automate.
- Collaborating closely with business analysts and the IT team to translate functional requirements into effective system capabilities aligned with business goals.
What’s required to be successful
- Over five years of experience in a similar role is required
- Post-secondary training in Business, Engineering, Information Systems or a related area is required
- Certification in Lean Six Sigma or education in business process redesign is required
- Certification or coursework in project management considered an asset
- Strong understanding of business operations, construction/project management, accounting and customer‑focused business models.
- Deep knowledge of process re‑engineering, improvement and redesign methodologies.
- Experience with metrics design, analytics, IS systems, databases and reporting tools.
- Advanced Excel skills, including statistics and performance metrics.
- Proven ability to:
- Build and integrate clear process maps
- Apply redesign methodologies
- Plan and manage large, multi‑stakeholder projects
- Support change management and stakeholder engagement
- Create and deliver training (asset)
- Build power BI dashboard and automate key business processes (asset)
